OPENING 2nd MARCH 2011

Nofound to New Documents - A photographic group show curated by Emeric Glayse

Viktor Wynd Fine Art Inc is proud to present Nofound to New Documents, a photographic group show curated by Emeric Glayse creator of Nofound.

Set up in 2007, Nofound (http://nofound.tumblr.com/) is one of the first curatorial blogs dedicated to contemporary photography. Snapshot/Intimate/Personal orientated, Nofound  has welcomed the works of more than 70 photographers. “At the beginning, Nofound was just a selection of series I liked, a mix between emerging photographers works and more established ones to have the most contemporary selection as possible.” But Nofound grew, and became exhibitions and books.

For Nofound to New Documents, Emeric has invited all the photographers who contributed to Nofound to show the series they published or will publish on the blog. The photographs will be exhibited in a line, always the same height.

“When I started Nofound, “curated photo blogging” wasn't so big. It was very difficult to find emerging photography platforms on the Internet. After 2009, this kind of websites exploded, online photography magazines became numerous. The need to show emerging photography on the Internet wasn't so essential to me any more. So, for me, the question became: how can I make it exist in the real world? How can I make this online curating live in galleries or museums?

Photography got a new life from the internet, it lives everyday because of it. A lot of new photographs that wouldn't have been seen before have got a platform. But internet has its limits. Something published on Internet usually stays on the internet. When an online project become a book or an exhibition, it develops most frequently into a dated and fossilised Archive. With Nofound to New Documents, I want to make an exhibition that is travelling and evolving and that is very strongly linked with the website created especially for it, a “retrospective” that develops with the blog.”

Nofound to New Documents, title reference to the MoMA exhibition (New Documents, 1967, curated by John Szarkowski) and the gallery project www.newdocumentsgallery.com that Emeric will start in March 2011, is a travelling exhibition that will evolve with time and place. London is its first stop. More info at www.nofoundtonewdocuments.com
